This is what we’re all really after in life. People question why we’re here. What is the point of life? And when I heard this definition of love it hit the deep place of my heart. The place where you just know that something is true. You just feel it.
“Love is to know and to be known.”
That statement just settled everything inside of me. That’s what we all really want in life.
To be fully known. We want someone to see us for everything that we are. Good and bad. Accomplishments, intelligence, sense of humor. Insecurities, fears, failures. We want people to see us for who we are and accept us.
That’s why there is no fear in love. Love casts out all fear. Because we are fully known. Every part of us is seen, and there is nothing to hide anymore. We are accepted for every part of us. And that is why love is amazing.
On the other side of love is to know fully. We want to see everything that someone is. We feel loved when people trust us to open up and let their walls down. To share their fears and insecurities, their dreams and desires.
Love is to give and receive from someone. Love is a relationship.
“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Cor. 13:12-13
